Feb 20th 2026, After a long winter nap in the fridge for about 15 of these species, I pulled them out today and unfortunately, several were rotted and had to be thrown. Darn it anyway—– (Notice the L. michiganense stems in the background flourishing )
blooming two weeks later than L. martagon var. pilosiusculm
The foliage is about 5-6 cm wide, and dark stem has sharp hairs as well as on the pedicials. Received this from Latvia
Potted up nine bulbs without any root structure on Feb 20th 2026. Placed in very shallow containers and applying base heat with very bright light to see if I can coax roots. Very little water these first few days. If these do emerge, I will not be allowing them to flower this year unless root growth improves. I anticipate I will have to await Spring 2027 for first bloom in 5a Minnesota climate. Since they came from sterile peat, I kept the medium near sterile as well so not to shock the bulb of scales without basal plate growth. Will evaluate.
