L. duchartrei Species

L. duchartrei species

is a sweet species that does really well here in Minnesota. Though, not a native. The bulb is stoloniferous which is a charming behavior of these kind of bulbs that will tend to creep under the grounds where they are planted, you just never know where they may pop up. These reseed in abundance and are easy to grow. They prefer the edges of a cooler flow of a pathway and do not require very much maintenance. They like shade with dappled sun. A good drink during the dry summer seasons every once in a while. They have a soft sweet fragrance. mine grow in dappled sunlight and emerge late in the spring. Please plant these not as deep as you would lilies from different divisions. These can go in about three inches deep., Water in well and await for spring emerging stems.  These are very hardy to Minnesota winter conditions.

July bloom time    16-24 inches tall. Great for crevice gardens that are in dappling lights
