Guinea Gold’ Martagon Lily Registered and Named by Frank Skinner in 1926. This has the most charming caramel colored flowers, speckled with cinnamon. It has the classic Martagon candelabra form with small nodding turk’s cap flowers and whorled leaves. Interesting pink buds. This lily is somewhat reminiscent of the old Mrs. R.O. Backhouse, which is now extinct in commercial distribution.’Guinea Gold’ Martagon Lily was derived from L. martagon crossed with various Asian native species, such as L. Hansonii. The appearance is similar to ‘Brocade’ bud indeed side by side, Guinea Gold is not as tall.
Quite shade tolerant, tall and very floriferous. Remember, Martagons may not come up the FIRST year, as they are busy down below forming those perennial roots. Very interesting lineage and definitely and oldie but goodie .
